So, in that spirit, I am in the early stages of talks with the mayor of the tiny town of Estacada, Oregon. My hope is to organize an event that will put food in front of those in need here in my little town.
Estacada is a town that can often be overlooked. It was once a center for the Northwest logging community. It was a rough and tumble town, but things are slowly changing. New growth is coming, but there are still many that are struggling, and this far away from the Portland Metro area, it is often easy to forget about. The food bank here often has a lot of empty space on its shelves. My hope is to fill them.
One of the things I feel fortunate about is all the amazing and talented musicians that I have met over the past few years. And I have learned that this is a group of people who never turn away from the chance to help. That is why I am putting out the call. If you are willing and interested, I need to hear from you. I want to put together an event here where ALL proceeds go to the local food bank. I don’t/won’t see anything from this other than the good feeling of helping those who can really use it.
So, not only will I need my musician friends, but I will need all the rest of you in the area to bite the bullet and make the trip out here when the time comes. Trust me, it isn’t as far as you think.
This is going to have to happen fast and on the fly. Are you with me? Chances are, I tagged a lot of you when this post went active. My hope is that I have more responses than I know what to do with. My fear is the sound of crickets…
