I remember when the ebooks first started showing up. Much like anything new (cassettes, VHS, and CDs), people dug in their heels and said this new tech was doomed to fail. As humans, we inherently fear change. Yet, with the constant time demands we all face…reading is becoming something that is an extreme luxury. Also, space is or can be a problem. Now, to my librarian friend(s), I am not calling for the end of physical books any more than I would vinyl recordings. However, books are languishing as people just run out of time to read. The answer? Audio Books!
So why not give audio books a shot? Imagine being able to sink into that amazing story as you shop or clean the house! You stay up on your TBR list and writers around the world rejoice. I was hesitant, but then I gave a few titles a listen. Now, like anything, you can often find narrators that you don’t care for, but on the whole, audio books are a wonderful way to drop in on some of your favorite pulp fiction characters. Also, when you are stuck in that commute…do you really NEED to hear the same songs you have been listening to for decades over and over again? Patch in you phone to a speaker if it does not automatically sync to your phone’s Bluetooth and listen to a book.
So, maybe you that continue to hold out tell me what keeps you from pulling the trigger. And for those of you who think you are ready to take the plunge…I have a deal for you. I will take two people who have NEVER tried Audible. If you will give my stuff a try, I will GIFT you my entire Audio Library. Yep…every single title credited to me. That is probably around $500 in free stuff! If you comment below and say “I WANT TO TRY SOMEHTING NEW” at some point, then I will happily make the arrangements. Your only commitment will be to sign up for the Audible free trial.
