…and we are lucky enough to share in it.
Time for a Freyja update. She has started her “Puppy 1” class and will graduate next week. Then it will be straight on to Puppy 2 and her AKC Star test. From there it will be obedience training. Also, this past Thursday she went to her first “conformation” training session. That is where she and I both get to learn how to show in the ring. This is the most intense of our Newfie world. She seemed to take to it very well. I think it is the prancing while everybody watches and “ooh” and “ahhs” as she does her thing. She does love attention. Although, she did start to get tired toward the end and wanted to just flop down on the floor. (Apparently a “no-no” on the ring.)
It has taken her no time to catch on to things. Her only “issue” is that sometimes she would rather just sprawl on the floor and do her incredible impersonation of a Bear rug. She has it down to a science. She just lets her front paws slide out in front of her and her back paws extend and viola, she is a rug! Sometimes I join her and she flops onto her side, allowing me to experience her world.
She is always excited when she gets to go on an new adventure. I am excited to embark on this with her. It is becoming a fun and new thing for us both. You can bet I will be sharing more of her exploits as this journey continues. And as long as SHE finds it fun and enjoyable…we will continue. I will not force her to be a “pageant baby”.
