So, in less than a week I take on the first leg of my Spartan Trifecta. The Reebok Spartan Super: This is the middle distance course. With a longer distance than the Sprint and more obstacles, the Super will test my endurance, perseverance and grit. The 8-10 Mile Super packs more than 25 Signature Spartan Obstacles through tougher and more rugged terrain. The Super is the first test en route to my Spartan TRIFECTA.
I hit the course in the morning. I have no doubt that it will push me harder than I’ve ever been pushed. It is not designed to be easy. Just the course in and of itself is intimidating. Add in the 30 Burpee penalty for each obstacle that I might fail, and it gets downright nasty. You don’t walk away from a Spartan Race without a collection of bumps, cuts, and bruises.
I will leave Snohomish, Washington as soon as the race is over and head home. No doubt I will fall asleep on the ride home. But once I do get back to town, I won’t have any time to rest or relax. You may be wondering why. Simple…that same night, I will take the stage at the Dublin Pub with the guys from Monkey Wrench (THE Foo Fighters Tribute Band). The have been kind enough to invite me on stage that night to perform a triple shot of ZZ Top.
I will be laying down the vocals on Tush, Sharp Dressed Man, and Cheap Sunglasses. So, if you are free Saturday night, head over to the Dublin Pub. The music starts at 10, and sometime after that, the band will invite me up to do my thing. There is even an event posting on Facebook. Head over and let me know if you might be coming. It would be really cool to see some of my friends in the crowd that night.
