Okay, so we live in a VERY commercial society. I get it, and so should you by now. We know that the commercials for Christmas start around the week after school starts, and it just ramps up from that point until Thanksgiving when it goes ballistic. You get to the point where you want to scream. I get that also, but I have a suggestion as the holidays roll into full steam:
Instead of letting it get you all twisted up, why not suck in some of the holiday spirit that YOU desire and spread it to others? There a re a lot of people who probably wish they had your problem (i.e. sitting inside a warm house and having the luxury of being able to complain about all the Christmas commercials on the television).
I don’t get into all the viral “share this post” stuff, but maybe this one time I will make an exception. Spread the word to a few friends and maybe find some group or organization that is in desperate need for volunteers and give a few hours. That takes care of two issues. For one, you get to help those less fortunate, and second, you don’t have to watch those irritating commercials while you are at a shelter or halfway house.
I have a few things I really enjoy doing this time of year(anonymously). You would be surprised how super you suddenly feel after reaching out to those who really can use some of that abundance of holiday cheer that the commercials seem to think comes from a store. But, may I remind you, the Grinch himself discovered that it Christmas did not come from a store. It came from the heart. So, open yours up this season. It beats watching those annoying commercials. Right?
