April 22nd is the day that my journey to complete the Spartan Trifecta officially begins. That is the day that I run the Spartan Super. According to the Spartan website—The Reebok Spartan Super: This is our middle distance course. With a longer distance than the Sprint and more obstacles, the Super will test your endurance, perseverance and grit. The 8-10 Mile Super packs more than 25 Signature Spartan Obstacles through tougher and more rugged terrain. The Super is the test en route to your Spartan TRIFECTA.
I thought that I would share with you what I do as I prepare. That means that I will be sharing my workouts. Of course, on Race Day, you can follow my journey on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. There will likely be plenty of pictures. One of the most grueling things about the Spartan Trifecta and the races that you have to run to qualify are the 30 Burpee penalties that you must do if you fail an obstacle. So, it is that reason that I am doing 30 a day, 3 days on, one day off until race day.
Today, I will be putting myself through a 6 mile run. Today, I will be running around Lysa Chetney’s neck of the woods. Jacksboro, Tennessee. I will share the map later when I run. Lysa can tell me how close I came to jogging past her today. If you offer me up a location, I might jog past your place on Wednesday! I already did a full-body weight training class earlier, but I might get in a little more when I head out to my garage/gym to run.
So, to summarize, today includes a 6 mile run. A full-body weight training session and a series of bench press reps. Check in throughout the week to see how it goes.
